This course is designed to provide an overview of the technology behind Bitcoin, Blockchain, and explore established financial services use cases.
For the past decade, cryptocurrency, specifically Bitcoin, has spotlighted an alternative approach to transfer value near real-time around the world. This unregulate approach lead to the emergence of regulated approaches that leverage the same technology, also known as DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology).
During the Blockchain/DLT hype phase, many enthusiast and technologist advocated the technology as some form of swiss army knife, that offers unlimited capabilities. Giving the initial false impressions lead to over 100+ Blockchain related patents. Bank of America holds 82 alone. Following Signature Bank’s launch of Signet, in December 2018, JPMorgan Chase & Co launched its own digital coin, called “JPM Coin” in Feb 2019, that enables customers to instantly transfer payments globally over a Blockchain network.
